Will artificial intelligence lead to artificial rel@ting?

We can ask AI to write a message, explain our feelings, analyse a conflict or suggest what someone else should say.

But AI cannot do the work of relating for us. Relationships are made with real people, each with their own history, needs and ways of seeing the world. We cannot predict exactly when friction will arise or what it will ask of us.

AI can help us find the words. It cannot take responsibility for how we act when the words are hard to find.

For decades, we have invested in understanding ourselves. That matters. But self-analysis alone does not teach us how to respond when another person disagrees, when we want to get it our own way, or when we feel the urge to withdraw.

This is the urgent gap. We are developing technology at extraordinary speed while leaving the skills that make relationships work largely untrained.

The question is not only what artificial intelligence can do for us. It is what we need to learn to do for one another.

The more we outsource to AI, the more urgently we need to practise the skills that make human relationships work.

We have learned to look inward: to identify our triggers, explore our histories and find language for our needs.

But knowing ourselves is not, on its own, a relationship skill. Understanding "my story" does not automatically teach us how to relate when we feel the urge to withdraw, take over a conversation or determined to win.

ASK THE WE introduces a different focus. There is YOU. There is ME. And there is the WE: the relationship itself, shaped by how we participate in it.

Instead of asking only “What is happening inside me?” or “What is wrong with them?”, we also ask:

What problems am I creating for this relationship?

How can I nourish the WE?

This is not about abandoning the individual or taking responsibility for someone else’s destructive behaviour. It is about taking a parallel responsibility for ourselves as part of the WE—and for the WE itself.

A relationship does not thrive on insight alone.

Its quality is shaped by what we practise together.

ASK THE WE moves beyond meta-reflections, theory and general communication advice. It introduces clear relating rules and practical protocols for moments when relationships come under pressure: control, withdrawal, manipulation, emotional overdrive and other destructive patterns.

The goal with ASK THE WE is not to provide more understandinging of what is going wrong and why. We trust you are well aware of that already.

The goal is to teach what to do so that we can return to relational competency.

Meet Lucy

Lucy Vittrup Christensen

Psychotherapist. Executive coach. TEDx speaker. Bestselling author.

For more than 25 years, Lucy has explored human behaviour, leadership, intimacy and the ways we live and work together. Her work has included founders, executives, CEOs, public figures and leadership teams.

Her career spans psychotherapy, leadership development, Danish television, journalism and public speaking. She pioneered the introduction of coaching into Danish mainstream television and has contributed to national conversations about intimacy, human touch, loneliness and human connection.

In 2019, she delivered a sold-out talk at Copenhagen Techfestival asking whether artificial intelligence would lead to artificial intimacy. In 2025, she spoke at Mercedes-Benz Future Talks in Colombo on the importance of intuition.

Across her work, Lucy has repeatedly brought emerging questions about human needs into public conversation. Her approach is direct, psychologically informed and grounded in the realities of human behaviour.

Today, her work centres on an urgent question: as technology changes how we think, work and communicate, how do we remain capable of meaningful human relationships?

From Latin revolvere, “to roll back”; re-, “back” + volvere, “to roll”.

In The We Revolution: a turning of our attention from analyzing our own story alone to the health of relationship itself—the WE we create and inhabit.

We have become skilled at examining our own stories. That has not taught us how to relate.

The We Revolution is my response to the crisis I believe we are heading towards. We are directing more and more attention towards understanding the individual, while leaving the skills of relating largely untrained.

Self-analysis alone cannot teach us how to take responsibility for the WE.

The revolution is a return of attention to the relationship itself: how we create it, what we contribute to it and what it needs from us.

All life depends on relationships. Our ability to live and work together depends on learning the skills to care for them.

We need to learn real relationship skills now—more than ever.
